FDA CORE outbreak investigation #1300 (Closed; outbreak ended): Salmonella Enteritidis; product: Eggs 134 cases; 38 hospitalized; 1 deaths; states: AZ, CA, CO, KS, KY, NE, NJ, NV, UT, WA; recall initiated (see advisory); FDA traceback, inspection, sampling initiated; recalling firms: August Egg Company Outbreak Investigation of Salmonella: Eggs (June 2025) The FDA and CDC, in collaboration with state and local partners, investigated illnesses in a multistate outbreak of Salmonella Enteritidis infections linked to recalled brown cage-free eggs and brown certified organic eggs supplied by August Egg Company, of Hilmar, CA. A total of 134 people infected with the outbreak strain of Salmonella have been reported from 10 states. There have been 38 hospitalizations, and one death. CDC has declared the outbreak to be over.
