FDA CORE outbreak investigation #1218 (Closed; outbreak ended): Salmonella Typhimurium; product: Organic Fresh Basil 36 cases; 4 hospitalized; 0 deaths; states: CT, FL, GA, IL, KS, MA, MI, MN, MO, NC, NJ, RI, TX, WI; recall initiated (see advisory); FDA traceback initiated; recalling firms: Infinite Herbs Outbreak Investigation of Salmonella: Organic Basil (April 2024) The FDA and CDC, in collaboration with state and local partners, investigated an outbreak of Salmonella infections linked to recalled Infinite Herbs-brand and Melissa's-brand fresh organic basil. As of June 18, 2024, CDC reports that the outbreak is over. CDC reports a total of 36 cases in 14 states. There has been a total of four hospitalizations and no deaths associated with this incident. The last illnesses onset date was May 26, 2024. FDA’s outbreak investigation is closed.
